I'm the director of CASTLE, the nation's only center dedicated to the technology needs of school administrators, and the coordinator of the Educational Administration program at Iowa State University. In addition to helping schools transition into a digital, global society, I also have worked with numerous school organizations on effective data-driven educational practices.

I've got an amazingly supportive, patient wife and the three best kids on the planet (not that I'm bragging or anything). We just moved to Ames, Iowa after six years at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

I'm on a quest to be named the world's clumsiest human. I can hardly walk across a room without injuring myself (and often haven't).

Scott,

I think in getting this project together, you'd said at Dangerously Irrelevant that you found this to be one of the best books you've read on the subject--or something like that. Briefly, would you explain why you thought that?

Hi Skip. Does that mean you're not finding the book very valuable so far? ;)

I said 'It’s possibly the best leadership book that I’ve read in years.' I did so because - rather than including a bunch of trite leadership maxims - the book does a nice job of presenting a structured approach to facilitating change in a way that's readable and accessible. I've read a lot of good and bad leadership books in my life - this is an awfully good one. Plus I think it's going to turn out to be a great book for a book club!

As we get further into it, be sure to share your own opinions on the book!

Hey Scott,

No, the question didn't mean I'm not enjoying the book so far. On the contrary, I'm finding it very interesting and am talking to my friends about it. I find the stories woven throughout to be compelling and I find myself what the specific behaviors could be beneficial to schools. I was simply curious.
