I was just wondering if there are other books that some of you might have read lately that would compliment the reading we are doing together here.

I know that there are several references in the posts thus far, but if we have a chance to post them collectively here it might be beneficial to some of us traveling this summer. I ussually get six to eight books either listened to or read over the summer.

Made to Stick by Dan and Chip Heath is a great companion.  They discuss the characteristics of messages that are memorable and long lasting.  I'm seeing lots of parallels between these two resources.  In a nutshell messages that stick need to be simple, credible, unexpected, concrete, emotional and conveyed with stories.  This gave me more to think about when considering storytelling as mentioned by Patterson, et. al. in Influencer.

Clay Shirky's Here Comes Everybody: The Power of Organizing without Organizations (sorry, the link button doesn't seem to be working) is a good read. Many stories about the impact of technology and our ability to organize people. And I think the impact of technology is having a profound impact on my learning and is causing me to think about my own Personal Learning Network.

Presentation Zen (presentation button still not working) by Garr Reynolds is a must read about our ability to present. It goes way beyond the use of Keynote or Powerpoint and it is focused on communicating ideas.

I thought that Diffusion of Innovations by Everett Rogers was a very thorough look at the process of change.  I also think that Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell has some overlap with Influencer.  I'd recommend both.
